How to add a Factory Navigation Unit to a C6 Corvette |
|
After a several year Corvette hiatus, I got the bug again and decided to look for a used C6. The car had to be a 6-speed, have the heads up display, Navigation and be a Z51. My first choice for color was Daytona Sunset Orange, but being I was going for a “previously enjoyed” car, I had to be open with color. I found a real clean, low mileage coupe in my second color choice of Magnetic Red Metallic II not too far from home. The price was right, the car had everything I wanted except the Navigation. I figured it was something I could always add later, so a deal was made.
I decided to put this page together to document the addition of a factory OEM navigation unit to help others who may be considering the same upgrade. I had spent HOURS in forums and Google looking for a “one stop shop” website or post that would answer all my questions. There wasn't one. All the information is out there, but it is located in bits and pieces. Until now ! |

OVERVIEW: This page will detail the procedure for removing the center console and original radio, the mounting of the GPS antenna, and the set up for the Nav radio with photographs, reference links, diagrams, and part numbers. I strongly suggest reading the entire site BEFORE purchasing a used...I mean.. Previously enjoyed Navigation radio. There are a few “pre-requisite” options your car must have for this to work and in order to avoid any problems with the radio setup once it is installed, I have put together a list of the information you will need from the seller. |
